An improvised musical performance "Weather" stages the equivalences between Anna Homler's musical practice and her visual art project Pharmacia Poetica, in which she bottles everyday objects in coloured liquids.
Anna plays with her assortment of toys and sound emitting objects, as well as singing in her own received language. Saunders archived the sounds of her collection and improvised in duet with Anna by playing back these recordings through a resonating glass screen and exploring its resonant response.
Video footage of the pharmacia's bottles, filmed by Hans Diernberger, makes up an important element of the performance. The macro-lens images expose the inner life of the bottles; what Homler has termed their "weather".
Below is an audio excerpt of a concert at Alte Feuerwache in Cologne, April 2017.
In 2018, Weather was also presented at Les Ateliers Claus, Brussels, and at the Sonic Fluidities conference at Univ. of Cal, San Diego.
