An improvised musical performance "Caravan Static" stages the equivalences of instrument builder Sarah Kenchington's relationship to materials in both her domestic living situation and artistic practice.
Saunders archived the small incidental sounds that Sarah's band of instruments contribute whilst she plays, and improvised live with her by playing back recordings through a resonating glass screen and exploring its resonant response.
Video footage from visits to Sarah and her partner Belinda Gilbert-Scott, filmed by Hans Diernberger and Saunders, makes up an important element of the performance. A part of the unique site in which Sarah and Bel live and work is brought into play on stage.
